The HC claims are located in the headwaters of Harvey Creek, approximately 10 kilometres north west of its outlet into Kinbasket Lake. In 1961 and 1962 Falconbridge Limited conducted regional exploration in the area and first identified the showing as a mineralized “schist belt“. In 2006 the HC claims were staked by Garry Payie.

Regionally, the geology is similar to that of the Punchbowl occurrence (083D 038) with mineralization being contained to a series of discrete vein structures confined to quartzites and lesser pelites of the McNaughton Formation. Locally, a 3.2 kilometre structure, 3 to 17 metres wide, containing quartz veins and disseminated sulphides of chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and pyrite occurs.

Selected samples of mineralized outcrop taken in 1961 and 1962 returned values of up to 0.3 per cent copper (Property File - Payie, G. (2006): Report - Harvey Creek property).
